Residential Solar Energy Disclosure and Homeowners Bill of Rights Act, 2024 P.L. Ch. 67 & 68 Pursuant to the recently-enacted Residential Solar Energy Disclosure and Homeowners Bill of Rights Act, 2024 P.L. Ch. 67 & 68, the Department of Business Regulation will begin licensing retailers, sales representatives, and other entities involved with the sale or lease of residential solar energy systems on March 1, 2025. The Department is currently preparing regulations and guidance necessary to implement the provisions of this Act. Holiday Hours and Cold Weather Safety The State of Rhode Island will be observing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday on Monday, January 20, 2025 and our office will be closed. Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, January 21st at 8:30 AM.The National Weather Service is forecasting overnight low temperatures Monday and Tuesday "mainly in the single digits" with some "below zero readings possible too," adding "wind chills will certainly drop below zero." CCC Adult Use Regulations Proposed Proposed rules and regulations for Adult Use Cannabis have been proposed by the Cannabis Control Commission and can be found on the Secretary of State website or on the Commission’s website.The Commission is accepting written comments on the proposed regulations through February 7, 2025. Please send your comments to cccinquiry@ccc.ri.gov or the Commission’s mailing address, however, email is preferred.A public hearing on all four regulations will be held in person on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 1pm at the Public Utilities Commission, 89 Jefferson Blvd, Warwick, RI, 02886. Public comment will only be received in person at this hearing.
Hybrid Licensing Pursuant to the Rhode Island Cannabis Act, 2022 P.L. Ch. 031 & 032, subject to compliance with Chapter 21-28.11 of the R.I. General Laws, licensed medical marijuana cultivators are exclusively eligible to produce cannabis as hybrid cannabis cultivators for adult use after August 1, 2022 and until the expiration of the moratorium period as provided in § 21-28.11-7.
